There are over-the-air digital TV signals on the island now. To view them you will need a set-top box or a digital TV that is compatible with the Curaçao system: Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T). Read more about Digital TV receivers.

The difference between over-the-air digital television and analog television is that a TV-antenna is required for digital television. However, it is very likely that you can use the same antenna that is used to receive analog TV channels. You will not need a satellite dish or a cable subscription.

Benefits

The benefits of digital television go beyond an improved sound and image quality. More digital “information” can be squeezed into a channel. This allows for more channels and programs to be available compared to the current over-the-air analog television.

Future

The future is digital and this will affect your choice when deciding to purchase a new TV and which programs you watch. In the future all the local TV channels will be digital and you will be able to watch all your favorite local TV programs in the higher-quality digital format.
