Concession holders
Curaçao requires a concession pursuant to the National Ordinance on telecommunications provisions, (Official Gazette 2011, no. 37), to promote an efficient provision of telecommunication in the general interest of society and of the economy, for the installation, maintenance and commercializing of a telecommunications infrastructure. This requirement of a concession is applicable with the exception of telecommunications installations for which a permit from the minister is mandatory or for which an exemption has been granted.
The minister of Traffic, Transportation and Environmental Planning (VV&RP acronym in Dutch) allocates the necessary radio frequencies to a concessionaire, needed for the implementation of the concession.
The concessionaire is under obligation to see to it that the capacity, the quality and the properties of the telecommunications infrastructure are in compliance with the terms and conditions for an efficient provision of telecommunications.
