Policy

The policy and supervisory framework for bitumen is aimed at regulated prices for bitumen supplied by Curoil to end users and supervision on quality of asphalt concrete that has bitumen processed in it, in the interest of the community.

The ultimate objective of this policy is to achieve stable sales prices whereby the actual purchase prices of bitumen are taken into account as much as possible. By keeping pace with the development of the actual purchase price for Curoil in determining the sales prices, sharply rising shortages for Curoil are prevented, likewise, as the far-reaching tariff adjustments to cover these shortages at the same time.
This will result in increased stability for the market parties: Curoil and the end users.

In order to achieve more stability in the market, an amendment of the schedule of the tariff adjustments for bitumen has been introduced, where an annual adjustment relative to the preceding situation until 2013 is applied, rather than a monthly one as with the other types of fuels, such as fuels for motor vehicles and electricity production.
By adjusting the tariffs for bitumen less frequently, the shock waves in the market are reduced.

The advice for the annual tariff adjustment to be implemented is established in accordance with the frameworks of the Guideline Tariff Regulation Bitumen 40/50.
