International Cyber Security Awareness Month October 2022

October is the International Cyber Security Awareness Month. This year we will focus on easy steps you can take to increase your cyber security. Cyber Security is about a shared responsibility each of us play a role in, from individuals to private sector to government, educational institutions and other stakeholders. Play your part by taking the necessary precautions to make your online activities and presence safer.

This year’s campaign goal is to have everyone implement these four action steps to increase online security:

  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: You need more than a password to protect your online accounts, and enabling MFA makes you significantly less likely to get hacked.
  • Use Strong Passwords: Use passwords that are long, unique, and randomly generated.
  • Recognize and Report Phishing: If a link looks a little off, think before you click. It could be an attempt to get sensitive information or install malware.
  • Update Your Software: Don’t delay – if you see a software updated notification, act promptly. Better yet, turn on automatic updates.
