The use of wireless telephones of the DECT 6 type may impair the functionality and use of 3G services. This refers to services provided on smartphones or USB dongles. This, among other things, is why the sale or use of wireless telephones of the type DECT 6 is prohibited.

In June 2015 all the shop-owners in Curaçao received a written request from BT&P, referring to the Ministerial regulation exemption telecommunication authorization 2015 (Official Gazette 2015, no. 3), to put a stop to the sale of this type of equipment, if, any unless the equipment complies with the conditions as referred to in this regulation. Inspectors from the BT&P are continuously monitoring this. If it is observed that these conditions are not, or not fully complied with, this will result in the equipment being seized.

In this framework Customs Curaçao has also been requested by the BT&P to provide cooperation and support in the realization of its supervisory task. Imported transmitter / receiver devices that fail to comply with the requirements must be seized according to a usual manner for Customs, or in case of doubt be submitted to the BT&P with the appurtenant equipment specifications, for assessment.
