Goal

Prepare participants to enable them to start their own shop/atelier equipped with the knowledge regarding professional sewing and the managerial skills required to manage their own business.

Target group

This course is aimed at those who are interested in starting a business venture in the clothing industry with focus on uniform production for amongst others: schools, offices, health care industry, law enforcement and hospitality industry. A short intro into doing business internationally will also be given during this course.

Minimal qualifications

  • 18 years or older;
  • VSBO education or equivalent;
  • Must be good at math;
  • Masters the languages English, Dutch and Spanish alongside Papiamentu;
  • Owns or has access to a portable sewing machine.

Course

  • Course is once a week during weekdays
  • From 12:00 (noon) to 03:00PM
  • De cursus consists of 8 tot 10 sessions
  • Maximum number of participants: 13

Duration of course: 10 weeks

An interview will be conducted as part of the process to scrutinize persons that are interested in participating in the course.
Deadline for application 4 February 2021.

Content of the course 

  • The fundamentals of sewing basic clothing models such as pants, blouses, skirts and dresses.
  • Business management of your own Atelier or Manufacturer and to maintain a successful business in this forever changing industry.
