Endeavor Bureau Telecommunicatie & Post
Through the United Nations Development Plan (UNDP) the National Development plan Curaçao 2015-2030 (NDP Curaçao 2015-2030) has been established. This plan encompasses a long term vision for Curaçao focused on: sustainable economic growth, education, environment, good governance and national identity. The integration of these goals provides a framework for short-term action leading to sustainable change. There are targets associated with the implementation of this process. Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post has selected economic growth as a focal point: “to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”.
Within the scope of this NDP Curaçao 2015-2030, BT&P has taken the initiative to specifically implement the aforementioned targets while linking to similar developments in the region. On 24th January 2017 BT&P pioneered the initiation of the first “Small Smart & Safe Nation” (CSSSN) platform within the context of the Caribbean. The essence of this initiative is to mobilize all stakeholders to achieve a leading role for Curaçao in coherence with such initiatives in the Caribbean.
On 14 February BT&P organized a second meeting. In this meeting the next step towards Curaçao as a Small Smart & Safe Nation was defined. Participants of the meeting opted to concentrate specifically on one of the pillars of economic growth, the so-called supporting investments, focused on: Education, Electricity, Water, Health, Transport, Land use. This not only involves making Curaçao an attractive option for the investor in these areas, but also improving the quality of life of all citizens.
The intended purpose of this session was aimed at acquiring stakeholder initiatives to enable more targeted collaborations for the implementation of set out objectives. This would be facilitated through attracting investors or stimulating investments in these priority areas. The most far-reaching result of this meeting was the composition of working groups in order to establish concrete plans in collaboration, thus ensuring that these stakeholders can decide on an approach for an action plan for the realization of the main goal, during the planned series of biweekly meetings.
In view of the fundamental importance of and need for strong economic growth in our country, it is the aim to strive confidently towards putting Curaçao on the map as the first Small Smart & Safe Nation in the Caribbean through a process of ever-expanding insight and action.
